Webgateway Policy statements with Groups

We have a requirement to allow categories based on the Groups and then block rest

For Example Group1 should have access only tp Sports and News and block the rest

Group 2 should have only News

Group 3 should access only Finance related

I can create rules to allow the categories for specific group

But i am not sure how I can block rest of the categories for the group.

I must be able to write a policy where we allow 1-2 categories for a group and block rest all

how do i achieve

please let me know

Re: Webgateway Policy statements with Groups

Here you can find the way to make this rule by IP or Authorized Group/Users:

As you can see I made it in my Environment by IP (Left-Center) but you have to make it by group/users (Right Poped).

I hope you got the solution.

Any further question is favorable to share.

Re: Webgateway Policy statements with Groups

Hi snik!

I wrote an article related to what you are asking:

The article describes how you can use rulesets to filter based on groups, and what to do if a user is not in the groups you are filtering on.

, seems to be employing a version of what is described in the article I wrote

Best Regards,

Re: Webgateway Policy statements with Groups

Dear Jon,

It was a perfect article but I just read it 5min ago and rate it as 5 star.

I believe you and Andre in Web Gateway and your Articles are amazing as it use to be.

Re: Webgateway Policy statements with Groups

Hi John,

I could not follow it properly especially the user defined property.

But i was able to do it with , "if Authentication.Usergroup contains<group name> ans URL filtering categoriy is <Category> then Stop rule set"

I did this for all three group and added a deny all rule at the bottom of the rule set.

Is it possible for you to explain how user defined would work.

Is there any way to contact you
