Web gateway version 7 in VMware

Jump to solution

Hello folks,

Does anyone know if there is a VMware image for web gateway version 7? I would like to try this new version in a test environment before upgrading the appliance itself.

Thanks!

Hello,

you can download the ISO image and boot that into VMWare. It will install a working MWG7 which you may use for testing.

Best,

Andre

What version of linux (in vmware) do I choose when installing the MWG 7? Red Hat?

I usually use either:

Other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit,

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 64-bit, or

CentOS 64-bit.

They all seem to work equivalently.

Please give it 40 Gig of Harddisk and approx. 2 Gig of Ram. Also for all of my installations I had to remove the "Bus Logic" SCSI controller and replace it with the "LSI Logic" SCSI controller to make things work. Depends on your VMWare version I think.

Please let us know if you encounter any trouble.

I tried installing it in other virtualization environments like Parallels or VirtualBox. Whenever I boot the .iso and go ahead to install, I get "No MWG Appliance found" error and the installation stops.

Any thoughts?

There is a check performed by the installer if you are installing on native Appliances or VMWare. If no native Appliance or VMWare is detected, MWG won't install.

Try to install it on VMWare.

Andre
