Hi,
I noticed you've made a short change in regards to "Operating system" for virtual appliance with MWG 7.8.X to "CentOS 64 bit, version 7"
In previous versions recommended was set for "Other 2.6.x Linux (64-bit)".
Is 2.6.x still supported for feature upgrades?
Any considerations/problems if we upgrade previous mwg versions (with Other 2.6.x Linux (64-bit)) to MWG 7.8.2.X?
regards.

Hi,
Hope you are doing well.
Change in Vcenter should not be required here as far as I understand this.
Also while doing upgrade from version 7.7.x to 7.8.2.3, it will be a phased upgrade. First it will upgrade to version 7.8.1.6 where MLOS 2 ends and then it will upgrade to version 7.8.2.3

Hi,
Hope you are doing well.
Till version 7.8.1.6 it is MLOS 2 and above it is MLOS3.
CentOS is the OS MLOS 3 is derived from (it was RHEL with MLOS2 if I remember correctly).

Hi,
Thank you for reply.
Ok, so MLOS 2 is "Linux 64 bit, version 2.6" as Operating system for 7.8.1 in virtual machine.
MLOS 3 is Centos 64 bit, Version 7.
I persume thats the correct version you got there in "root mode" that implicates whitch OS versions run on diffrent mwg versions according the KB's above. But want to clerify here just to bee certain.
Once upgrade is initiated from 7.7.X to 7.8.X - Do we need any consideration to change this in Vcenter as well?
I checked a recent version in root mode and got the same version as you. But in Vcenter it is still set as "Guest OS: Other 2.6.x Linus (64bit).
Regards.
Hi,
Hope you are doing well.
I meant to say that till MWG version 7.8.1.6 it is MLOS2 ( Mcafee Linux Operating System version 2).
From version 7.8.2 it is now using MLOS 3.

This is the reason for 7.8.2 you are seeing CentOS 64 bit, version 7.
