Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Is there any way to get a browser summary report via Web Reporter?  We have been able to create a rudimentary report but it doesn't summarize and isn't really useful.  We'd also like to add the Browser info to other reports and filter by browser type, but those don't seem to be availible options.

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

The browser type and version features, commonly known as user agent, were added in Web Reporter 5.1.0 in August 2010.

Does anybody know how to create browser summary report in Web Reporter 5.2.0.02?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Could you elaborate on what you're looking for?  For example, do you just want a list of browsers used over the past week?  Or top browsers by hits?  Something else?

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Hello,
We're also trying to find out how to configure Web Reporter to be able to know wich browser are users using.
As you said we´ve created a report enabling agent user options including agent id, name and browser version (Web reporter 5.2.04 version)
The problem is that once we launch the report we don´t get any result. As you can see in the attached screenshot all these fields are empty (-).
Should we change something else in the acces log header configuration in MWG?
This is our access log header:

time_stamp "auth_user" src_ip status_code "req_line" "categories" "rep_level" "media_type" bytes_to_client "user_agent" "virus_name" "block_res"

Thanks.
Regards.

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Have you verified that the log body has the user agent information?

If you are using Web Gateway 7, the header is independant of the log body.  So if the column for user_agent in the header doesn't have the right data, it won't be picked up by the log parser.

At least that is a good place to start.  Always check the log data first.

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Hi Shawn,

In the log body we also can´t see user agent information, we just see " "

This is one access log line:

[30/Jan/2012:16:48:56 +0100] "" 10.22.9.29 200 "GET http://www.elcorreo.com/js/ctv/ctv.js HTTP/1.1" "General News" "Minimal Risk" "application/x-javascript" 3796 "" "" "0"

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Hi Maitane,

See: https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-3348#Log_Handler

You most likley need to change the value you are logging for the user-agent, this was a problem in 7.0.1. You may also need to change it for "Body.Size as well.

Re: Web Reporter - Browser Summary Report

Thanks Jon!!

So if I´m not wrong we should change:

  • In 7.0.1 the rule event referenced: String.ReplaceIfEquals(Number.ToString(Body.Size),"","-")

to

  • In 7.0.2 the rule event references: String.ReplaceIfEquals(Number.ToString(BytesToClient),"","-")

and

  • In 7.0.1 the rule event referenced: Header.Get("User-Agent")

to

  • In 7.0.2 the rule event references: Header.Request.Get("User-Agent")
