Upgrade Path

Hello!    We are running  Web Gateway 9.2.9 (36018) with just a single server and need to run updates... Can we go to v11 or do we need to make the jump to v10 first?  I am following the 10.1.x install guide but it does not make mention of the correct steps of making the version jumps.  Guess I am wondering if the Configuration-Appliances-Update Appliance Software tool is smart enough to do it on its own or if we should follow the mwg-switch-repo --sticky <version number> method.

Thanks!

Re: Upgrade Path

Hi @BNHC2

Webgateway 11.0.x is currenty provided as a controlled Release, so you have to switch the repository before upgrading.

Upgrading directly from 7.8.2 or later:  Activate the repository for the new version and upgrade to it from the Web Gateway interface or from a system console.

You may follow the 10.2.x Documentation guidelines for Upgrading to a controlled release ... please see https://docs.mcafee.com/en-US/bundle/web-gateway-10.2.x-installation-guide/page/GUID-F79220CE-9A61-4...

Best regards
Marcus

Re: Upgrade Path

Hi,

I would personally go to the latest "main" released (which is 10.x) and then - if desired - upgrade from the latest "main" release to the controlled released.

Always make sure to take a backup and have a boot media with the current version available, so you can restore in case of emergency.

Best,
ANdre
