Transparent Bridge and Proxy mode

Hi, we are going to migrate to MWG 7.x. Question is, is it possible for MWG 7.x to be in transparent bridge and proxy mode at the same time?

Here is the scenario:

Internal users will have their browsers pointed to MWG but their default gateway will be the internal router - proxy mode

Guests will not have their browsers pointed to MWG but their default gateway will be the MWG - transparent mode

attached here is the diagram for further reference.

a configuration guide will be very much appreciated!

thanks!

Re: Transparent Bridge and Proxy mode

Hey Michael,

Let us know how to do this!

I have the same scenario and I'm thinking in change my topology to transparent mode only. But if I have other option I'll try this.

Re: Transparent Bridge and Proxy mode

Hi Michael,

Yes, I was able to do this kind of setup a month ago. Its now in production and I'm using the transparent router mode.

Its just dissappointing on McAfee support since it always pointing me on using the WCCP feature which I don't find very helpful.

Nido

Re: Transparent Bridge and Proxy mode

Hi,

I think maybe I can help ~

In my experience, Transparent Route and explicit proxy mode

can work at the same time.

But, you have config to Transparent Route mode, then set

proxy server ip and port (default:9090) on you browser (ex:IE or Firefox)

BTW, if you have too much client need use the MWG,

the WCCP is bad idea, because the performance is poor,

and it will cause the switch high loading (cpu usage too high)

Best Regards!!
