We have a site that our users access and McAfee Web Gateway is claiming The transferred file contained a virus and was therefore blocked, but doesn't actually say what the Media Type is or the Virus Name (may be an issue with our template)
Is it a false positive? https://www.mybarnacles.co.uk/
Interestingly if I go through Chrome the page does not seem to be blocked and a page with Install Silverlight button appears
McAfee Web Gateway - Notification
well, I am not able to reproduce the block right now but I also get the "Install Microsoft Silverlight" button and this with IE, FF and Chrome.
I checked the reputation and categorization of this URL at trustedsource and noticed that this host is not categorized and has reputation "Unverified". This can also have impact on the scan result.
Therefore, I would recommend checking this at trustedsource and then suggest a category and write in the optional comment field that you would like to have this categorized and a reputation.
If this is for example changed to reputation "Minimal Risk", it could already resolve the issue.
Keep me updated here and let me know the outcome or if the submission at trustedsource does not bring the wished result.
Hope you are doing well.
Raised a request and got this URL Categorized accordingly.
Currently this is being Categorized under Internet Services Category and Minimal Risk as Reputation.
I traced in Web Gateway and it looked as if the site was being blocked due to PUP (Potentially Unwanted Programs) so perhaps Web Gateway was mistakenly thinking the prompt to install Silverlight was PUP, even though that is a plugin requirement to access the site which we install for any users that need to access it
