Spotify via Mcafee Web Gateway

Hi,

I have searched the forum but are unable to find a suitable answer.

Im trying to run spotify via mcafee web gateway but is not able to.

The access log indicates that connections are made:

10.1.48.1 - - - Neutral - [01/Feb/2010:09:17:27 +0100] - - - "CONNECT ap1.spotify.com:4070 HTTP/1.0" - 407 - 146 "" - ""
10.1.48.1 - - - Neutral - [01/Feb/2010:09:17:27 +0100] - - - "CONNECT ap8.spotify.com:80 HTTP/1.0" - 407 - 146 "" - ""
10.1.48.1 - - - Neutral - [01/Feb/2010:09:17:27 +0100] - - - "CONNECT ap6.spotify.com:443 HTTP/1.0" - 407 - 146 "" - ""

But Spotify still notifies my with a errormessage stating that a connection was unable to be made.

Could anyone shed any lights regarding spotify vs web gateway?

/Sebastian

Re: Spotify via Mcafee Web Gateway

Hello,

unfortunately I am currently not able to access Spotify at all, but from the Log file lines you have mentioned I can see that MWG responds with a "407" response, which usually means that there is an issue with authentication and the request was not mapped into a policy. I think we may need to understand if the Spotify application tries to successfully authenticate agains MWG. For this creating some debug Output with the "Connection Tracing" option within MWG would be helpful.

I would recommend to create a Support Ticket for this issue, so that we can troubleshoot it.

Best regards,

Andre

Looking at your access.log, I see reouccouring 407.

and assume that this authentication. So connecting the few dots, I'd say that spotify doesn't properly authenticate users. Look if it has proxy settings. I doubt it does any NTLM or the like.

Re: Spotify via Mcafee Web Gateway

Spotify has proxy settings. It works like a charm through ISA 2006.

Re: Spotify via Mcafee Web Gateway

Does each url request get checked for authentication?

I have had issues for example with gtalk, where when I first start up my computer, that starts up first and fails to work.  I open IE to cnn.com, background via ntlm I'm authenticated and then gtalk works just fine.  Why wouldn't spotify work the same way?
