Skype Through Transparent Bridge Mode

Hi,

I have a transparent bridge setup with SSL Scanner enabled. SSL seems to be working perfectly. But now people are complaning that they cannot sign in to skype.

Any ideas on how to get skype working while running the MWG on Transparent Bridge Mode?

Thanks In Advance

Regards,

Rukmal

Re: Skype Through Transparent Bridge Mode

Hi.

You have to brake SSL decryption scaner as Skype uses non-standard SSL.

Details already described in another discussion at https://community.mcafee.com/message/305890#305890

Works ok for me.

Re: Skype Through Transparent Bridge Mode

Create an additional proxy port > Configure skype to use that proxy > exclude that proxy port from the ssl scanner (proxy.port does not equal <new port>).

Re: Skype Through Transparent Bridge Mode

If you want to allow skype through transparent bridge without any setting changes, it is recommended to use McAfee Client Proxy.

Many of the techniques described in that doc will work in transparent bridge or router mode. But you will be opening huge security holes in your environment.
