Renaming an Appliance

Ive noticed if you rename an appliance within GUI , it doesnt rename itself via CLI or within the Cluster nodes (dns).  Is this a bug or is there a way to rename all contents of the mcafee appliance that will change witin CLI\ Cluster\ DNS\ etc???

Re: Renaming an Appliance

You have to reboot once or twice before that takes effect (from what I remember).

Re: Renaming an Appliance

  1. Tab
  2. "appliance"
  3. "network"
  4. Hostname/Fully Qualified Domain Name
    1. (change name here)
    2. Reboot
  5. Reboot AGAIN

I've rebooted several times with no success.  Can you please advise if this works on your end or is there something else required.  Name changed on the Mcafee GUI only not the CLI or anything else.

Re: Renaming an Appliance

Rebooting is all i ever had to do when I changed names.

If you go into ssh, what do you see in this file:

/etc/sysconfig/network

[root@mwg-7-1-6 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network

### BEGIN AUTOGENERATED CONFIG

NETWORKING='yes'

NETWORKING_IPV6='yes'

GATEWAY='192.168.2.1'

HOSTNAME='mwg-7-1-6'

### END AUTOGENERATED CONFIG

When I change it and reboot:

[root@mwg7 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/network

### BEGIN AUTOGENERATED CONFIG

NETWORKING='yes'

NETWORKING_IPV6='yes'

GATEWAY='192.168.2.1'

HOSTNAME='mwg7'

### END AUTOGENERATED CONFIG
