Redirect a URL

Is it possible to redirect a requested URL through the gateway. For example, if a user tries to go to http://www.facebook.com, they get redirected to http://www.myspace.com. I've tried something like this and can't seems to get it working:

If

URL equals "https://www.hsmv.flcjn.net/servlet/Menu"

than

Redirect

     to a User-Specified URL of "https://david2.hsmv.flcjn.net/servlet/Menu"

That doesn't seem to cut it, though.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: Redirect a URL

I have a similar setup working in WG7, although I used a wildcard to make sure I caught the URL.  If you're running WG7, let me know and I can show you the rule I have setup.

Re: Redirect a URL

Don't use a redirect action. Use a URL-rewrite event.

Name:
Redirect Porn to Google

Rule Criteria:
URL.Categories<Default> contains Pornography

Action:
Continue

Events:
Set URL = "www.google.com"

Hmm, now that I think about it. Re-directs should work too.

What problems are you seeing?

Re: Redirect a URL

Basically, it's not working. Here's the rule.

ReDirect.PNG

I'm trying to redirect because whenever our users are going to www.hsmv.flcjn.net they can't reauthenticate after the set time is up and have to close IE and reopen it, that doesn't happen to david2.hsmv.flcjn.net for some reason so I was trying to workaround the problem.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Redirect a URL

You could try to to change the action from continue to redirect and then enter the url, because the event isn't affecting the client doin the request, but is something about logging, vairable defining and internal stuff ..

the Redirect action should work. Can you probably give me access to a Feedback with the configuration to have a look? If possible you can upload one to our FTP server and sned me a PM, I will have a quick look.

Redirect a URL

I can tell you that is quite easy lose brain while you are working with SWG7 , best solution when somtg like that happen, delete all the rules, reimport only the needed.

Obvioulsy only if you are not running the appliance in production!!

Re: Redirect a URL

Are you doing SSL Scanning?  If you are not decrypting the SSL, you won't see the entire URL, and the rule criteria won't match.
