Question about Kerberos and load-balanced MWGs

Jump to solution

I have 6 MWGs, 2 of them at 3 different data centers. Each data centers' MWGs are load-balanced using WCCP.

To get Kerberos working, the guide says we should have only ONE keytab file that we upload into all MWGs in the deployment. However for this to work, we have to associate the SPN of each MWG with the kerberos User.

The problem is, we have a policy against associate multiple SPNs.

Will kerberos work in this environment if we create a kerberos user for each MWG, with only the SPN associated with it's own MWG associated with each kerberos user?

Yeah it will work, but it creates a lot more overhead for you managing the keytabs AND the users.

I generally recommend all MWGs have the same keytab uploaded, but in this case it'd be up to you whether or not you'd merge them and upload the same keytab to all MWGs, or each have their own induvidual keytab.

Merging and tracking them would not be fun. The Three Headed Dog tool will be your friend here (in case you werent aware of it):

Thats kind of a strange policy considering by default in AD there's a lot of accounts with multiple SPNs.

Best Regards,

Jon
