Proxy HA and Active/Passive configuration.

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I have two 5500 MWG appliances, each one in different data center - HQ and DR. The Web gateways are in Explicit proxy mode with HA and the HQ device is the active director.

Reading through the manual it seems that the active director decides to which scanning node to send the traffic and there is no way to tell him that he should process all the traffic.

Is there a way to configure them so only the HQ device serves all the traffic and only in case of failure the DR devices takes over, meaning a classical active/passive failover setup, instead of the default load balancing one ?

Hi Fr0st,

To prevent load balancing from occurring, do not specify the "Port redirects" on the HQ and the DR node.

This will mean you are only using ProxyHA for its VIP, instead of both the VIP and load balancing.

Best Regards,

Jon
