Migration - websence to MWG - creating a block list

Jump to solution

Hello all,

I am very new to the Mcafee suite, and is in process of migrating from websence to MWG

I have a black list of 1000 sites, http and https, what is the best way to import them in.

These are not in the format of a regular expression.

Please help!

Thank you

K.

Hi Krunk,

If you put the sites into a text file you can import them from the GUI.

Under Policy > Lists, Click Import. Then MWG will walk you through the import.

This will create a list for you to use. To put it to use, you need to create a rule which uses that list.

Attached is a short clip of me importing a list from a file and putting the list to use. Sorry if its very fast, was trying to keep the file size down.

The list I imported had only a few entries, with varying formats:

http://google.com

digg.com

lifehacker.com/test

downloads.mcafee.com

In the rule I used, it uses the "URL.SmartMatch" property which basically accepts any variation of URL entries (except wildcards). For more information on the URL related properties, see:

Best Regards,

Jon
