MS Silverlight

Jump to solution

Does anyone know the user agent for MS Silverlight and/or Windows Media Player?  I'm using WG7 as a direct proxy.  Sites that have MS Silverlight media will not play and I've narrowed the problem down to be authentication to the proxy.  If I bypass auth for a given host and attempt the video/audio, it works fine.

What I'd like to do is bypass authentication for any media presented via Silverlight, if possible.

Example URL:

http://event.on24.com/utils/test/testWMP.htm?text_language_id=E&isSilverlightEnabled=true&silverligh...

TIA,

Steve

For Windows Media Player it should be suitable to match *NSPlayer*. This covers the part of the Media Player that does NOT use the Internet Explorer settings/capabilities, e.g. Websites displayed within Windows Media Player are correctly authenticated but if you call an audio/video stream, this will show up with the *NSPlayer* User-Agent, which you can use for bypassing Auth.

Silverlight - as far as I know - uses the User-Agent of the Browser, but I am not completely certain. Maybe someone else has an idea?

Best,

Andre

Thanks Andre.  Bypassing auth for the NSPlayer user agent worked for the website I was having trouble with.  I'm not sure how/if Silverlight complicates things, but I'll consider this fixed.

Hi,

How can i bypass this site  http://www.gpi.nl/Home/PSApplication

This is also an Silverlight site.

We're using WG6 and WG7. Both have the same problem, the only thing you see is a white screen.

Regards,

Ray

Which version of MWG7 are you using? Are you connecting to this site through Windows Media Player, or through browser?

Hi Alexott,

MWG6 is 6.8.6 build 6257

MWG7 is 7.1.6.1.0 build 12742

Both through the webbrowser, IE and Firefox.

I see that it receives data from http://app.psinfoodservice.nl server, and Silverlight app is loaded from http://www.gpi.nl/ClientBin/PsSilverlight.xap
