Is there an easy way to restore 7.2.0.5.0-14254 before upgrading to 7.2.0.8.0-14873

As the above, can this be done via yum? Always good to have a backout plan

AFAIK, not possible with 7.2, unless you are willing to install from media again (and you happen to have the 7.2.0.5.0 install media).

7.2.0.7.0 had been out for 6 weeks and I planned to upgrade to it, but then they shipped 7.2.0.8.0 so I won't be doing that for at least a month.

In 7.3 there is new functionality that will allow you to upgrade to a specific version (7.3.1.2 rather than 7.3.1.3, for example), but I don't know how well it would play with "downgrading" to the previous version.

Hi Iain,

The OS has a lot of other software that the MWG software relies on. This too is updated when the appliance update is done.

As a result there is no easy (or supported) way to downgrade because not only the MWG software would need to be downgraded, but the other software as well.

The only "downgrade" would be a reimage, as btlyric mentioned.

To expand on what btlyric said about specific version upgrades, this can be done on 7.3+ by issuing a command like:

mwg-switch-repo -s 7.3.1.2

Using his example above, it would take you to 7.3.1.2 and not 7.3.1.3 -- assuming it was the latest 7.3.1.x.

Using the command below would revert you back to the 7.3.1.x, and if you did an upgrade it would take you to 7.3.1.3 -- assuming it was the latest 7.3.1.x:

mwg-switch-repo 7.3.1

Best,

Jon

Jon -- just to clarify, are you saying that a downgrade will work for 7.3.x using the mwg-switch-repo option?

It sounds like you are, which would make sense since the distro is yum/rpm-based and you can do this on a non-MWG linux system and it'll handle all the dependencies and such.

To btlyric, I was not saying the mwg-switch-repo would do anything for downgrades. I was trying to address both posts in one.

To Iain, 7.2.0.5 to 7.2.0.8 only has bugfixes so there shouldnt be anything new introduced to break anything.

Best,

Jon

Thx for replies, hopefully now issues as I'd have 7 boxes I need to rebuild
