Is it possible to make a HA group with different hardware?

Currently we are planning to replace the old Web Gateway hardware with new model. The old pair is in HA mode, is it possible to replace the old pair one by one, form a HA with one old model and one new model without any outage? Also is there any restriction with the software version, current version is 7.7.2.14.0(26153) ? Thanks.

Re: Is it possible to make a HA group with different hardware?

Hi,

Hope you are doing well.

Yes it is possible to make a HA group with different hardware models.

Your current version 7.7.2.14 is an EOL version.

McAfee announces End of Life (EOL) for Web Gateway 7.7.0 including subsequent updates and hotfixes (7.7.x). These versions will reach EOL on December 31, 2019.

You need to alteast upgrade to an supported version is 7.8.2.x

Current main release version is 8.2.5.

If you wish to upgrade to version 8.2.x then please check for below information:-

MWG 8.2.0 includes the replacement for the McAfee Network Driver (MFEND). MFEND is the kernel module. It is responsible for the deployment modes Proxy HA, Transparent Router mode, and Transparent Bridge mode. As a part of this transition, MFEND is replaced with an equivalent technology stack that provides the same feature set in user space.

One of the prominent elements of the stack is HAProxy, a highly available, fast, and efficient load balancer. In this release, we are supporting Proxy HA and Transparent Router mode only. In subsequent releases, we will support the Transparent Bridge mode.
