How to manually update an appliance to a specific version ?

I have tried to upgrade MWG to a specific version using the following CLI commands in the past but it upgrade to the latest to the latest release in the Main Branch.

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB89192&elqTrackId=D824897F4BE515C4A655E2D408F...

What repository can I use to upgrade MWG from 7.7.2.18 to 7.7.2.21??

Step during my last upgrade:

Step1 : Log on to the MWG command line as a root

Step 2: Type mwg-switch-repo -l and press ENTER.

Step 3: Type mwg-switch-repo –sticky 7.2.18 and then press ENTER

Step 4: Start the update process by typing yum upgrade and then press ENTER.

Thanks,

Gagandeep

Re: How to manually update an appliance to a specific version ?

Hi Alok,

Thanks for information.

Can you please advise if there is any difference between the below commands?

mwg-switch-repo --sticky 7.7.2.21

mwg-switch-repo -sticky 7.7.2.21

In the document, it states that:

"Note: Upgrading with this repository will always take you to the latest release in the Main Branch. Make sure you know the most current release within the Main repository before upgrading. This will help prevent an upgrade to an unexpected version."

Also, is there any document or URL that McAfee updates to find out the latest release in the Main Branch?

What is the latest release in the Main branch of 7.7.2.x?

Thanks,

Gagandeep

Re: How to manually update an appliance to a specific version ?

Hi Gagandeep,

In order to update to a particular version below sticky command needs to be used:-

mwg-switch-repo --sticky 7.7.2.21

By using mwg-switch-repo -sticky 7.7.2.21, it will most probably take you to latest main release version and not to 7.7.2.21.

Below are the URL's of our update servers which MWG connects to:-

appliance.webwasher.com     64.34.186.62 (US)
appliance1.webwasher.com   176.9.139.118 (Germany)
appliance2.webwasher.com   52.193.50.118 (Japan)

Current main release version is 7.8.2.8

Latest available version in 7.7.2.x is  7.7.2.21
