How to configure FTP proxy ?

Jump to solution

Dear everybody,

Did someone have experience about configuring FTP proxy on Web Gateway ? I know the first step is to enable FTP Proxy but what is the rule that I have to create ?

I tried lot of different rules (deny, authenticate, Stop Cycle) with the Rule Criteria "Proxy.Port equals 2121" but I always have the following error:

ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server

Did somebody know how to configure that ? The documentation is very poor about the FTP configuration...

Here is that I did but it dones't work.

Thank you,

Hello,

normally there is no need to add specific rules in order to allow FTP traffic. Compared to a Firewall by default all traffic is passed on MWG which means that, in case you did not add a Block rule somewhere, the traffic should work fine.

Is the port 2121 opened and accessible? Can you do a telnet to the MWG IP address on Port 2121 and get any response back?

Best,

Andre

Hello Andre,

Thank you for your response.

I tried the telnet and the WG not respond.

I disabled the FTP proxy and enabled it again and now it's work.

Thank you very much.

Hi Basile,

thank you for letting me know. Seems that this was pretty easy 🙂

Now that you can access to port 2121 you should also be able to create some rules to control what is happening. Using the Proxy.Port or Connection.Protocol properties should help you to decide if your rules apply to HTTP or FTP traffic.

Please let us know in case there are further questions.

Best,

Andre
