HTTP Application

Hi !

There's a customer that needs to configure all HTTP traffic to go through the Web Gateway, but some applications installed use HTTP connection but instead using port 80 it uses a specific port (like 1080) and is not able to configure a proxy.

How can we handle this client applications ?

The client proxy allow us to send all traffic to Web Proxy ? Or only Browser Traffic ?

Thanks

Re: HTTP Application

Hi.

Port TCP1080 is SOCKS4 proxy and this feature is part of MWG, so you can turn on socks on MWG and application should be able to use it. If no, then there is McAfee Client Proxy, when installed on end user PC, redirects all web trafic to MWG. See http://www.mcafee.com/us/resources/faqs/faq-client-proxy.pdf

Re: HTTP Application

Thanks Lubomir !

But the Mcafee Client Proxy redirects all browser requests or client application as well ?

I'm having a problem with this client application. It uses a high port to establish the connection (3456) and do not have a option to set up a proxy.

Re: HTTP Application

Hi rafael.

McAfee Client Proxy primarily redirects HTTP and HTTPS traffic, regardless the application. So this should work for any http/https application trafic even without proxy settings possibility.
