Fast Growth of Web Reporter or Content Reporter Database

Jump to solution

Since the reporter is tied to the MWG, I was curious if adding a large number entries to the Global Back list would cause the Database to grow at a faster rate. We have been seeing a big spike in growth, so are looking for what could be causing this. The only data it gets is from the MWG.

Should I purge old entries to the Global Black list?

Thank you,

Stewart

Re: Fast Growth of Web Reporter or Content Reporter Database

Hi,

Hope you are doing well.

Access.log (which contains users browsing data)  from MWG are sent to CSR.  You can also  maybe exclude traffic for 407 response code which is for authentication to reduce the amount of logging/data sent to CSR.

Csr_fct_exact_access is the main table that contains detailed navigation data for users.

The large size of this table is a normal thing. Detailed data typically consumes 80-85% of the database's disk space.

Summary data is compressed because it tracks only user / site / hour level access. The benefit of paged views is to reduce the size of the detailed table because this table uses the size of the database store.

You can enable page views which helps reduce the size of detailed data.

Maintenance of the database: -

Properly setting up database maintenance in CSR is the most effective way to control the size of the reporting database

Look for Content Security Reporter maintenance part in below link:-
