Dynamic link on a block page?

Jump to solution

We block Web Ads for most users.

To make for an overall better look of web pages when they are browsing I've replaced the block page for Web Ads like so:

1.png  2.png

Is it possible to have a hyperlink on my modified block page that points to the original block page so if necessary we could see more info about what was blocked?

Thanks!

Great! It sounds like the general consensus (You, me, and Lord Chariot) is this solution:

The only thing that comes to mind is a link around the graphic that embeds the page information in an encoded URL and chains to another block page that resides on the gateway.

Basically, something similar to the Site Review pages.

Then the new page that displays opens in a new target='_blank' and displays the variables that get passed to it.

i don't have a chance to work out that work flow right now, but is that enough to go on?

Ok, now that i have a few mintues, here's what I came up with.

I re-purposed my submit site review confirmation page because it had all the mechanics and rules in place already. I actually didn't have to change the rules at all, just add a new blockpage for the web ads that passed all the variables to the site review page.

I have a very basic block page for web ads that displays my logo:

Capture.jpg

The page img has an <a target='_blank' ...> when you click it that opens a new tab with the following information:

Capture2.jpg

The template looks like this:

Capture3.jpg

Is this sort of what you had in mind?

I lol'd at your wizard! Cool stuff

That sounds like what I'm trying to do, but what's the code on your the web ad block page to open up the site review tab?

Thanks!

That last screen shot is the entire web ads block page that shows the logo and opens a new window when clicked.

I created a new schema, so the regular HTML doesn't get in the way. (Actually, i created a new language Walloon (wa) in the same default schema and put all the code in the schema, not the template)

My site review rule set parses the parameters in the link and displays them on the page. (attached)

I attached a dump of all my block pages. The files you are interested in are:

/wa/index.html

/en/SiteReviewSent.html

I can't quite get this right. When I click on my image it takes me to another page with my image on it.

Is it my rules? In order to get this going I made this rule:

I did come up with a lesser alternative, too. The where the image link is

<a target='_blank'      href='http://MWG7IP:9090/checkurl?url=$URL.Host$$Proxy.EndUserURL$&local=checked&cloud=checked'>

<img src='$<propertyInstance useMostRecentConfiguration="false" propertyId="com.scur.engine.system.proxy.enduserurl"/>$/files/default/img/McAfeeAdBlock.png'>

</a>

Try changing this:

url=$URL.Host$$Proxy.EndUserURL$

to this:

url=$URL$

The more i think about it, the more i like the checkurl approach you are doing.

I'm going to stealborrow that idea and put in my master preconfig as the click to the logo on all the block pages.

Thanks.

oh, and instead of hard-coding the IP and port, you can use:

http://$Proxy.IP$:$Proxy.Port$/checkurl?url=$URL$&cloud=checked&local=checked
