Configuring WCCP for Transparent proxy

Hi Everyone,

Need help, I'm currently doing a POC, the requirement is they dont want any configuration to be made in the client side, basically transparent proxy. our POC environment  is shown in the attached img file.

Questions:

1. Will transparent proxy (WCCP) work with our current set-up?

2. where is the best option configuring WCCP, is it in the Router or in the core switch?

Could someone please provide us a sample WCCP router/switch configuration that we can follow... or better yet best practices for successfull deployment of MWG as a transparent proxy (WCCP).

btw: we are using Cisco Router 1800 and Cisco Switch 3560.

Any information regarding this one will be very much appriciated.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Nelson

Re: Configuring WCCP for Transparent proxy

Hello,

I would configure WCCP on the  switch labeled "L4 - Core  Switch" in the diagram. Since I am not a Cisco guy I cannot tell how to configure the switch. On MWG you should find all the required steps in the product guide which shows the different deployment scenarios.

Best,

Andre

Re: Configuring WCCP for Transparent proxy

Hi Adre,

Thanks for the quick response.

are we going to configure each of the core switch fastethernet port to enable WCCP? (Employee port is directly connected to the core switch)

Is this not possible if we were to config WCCP in the router to let us configure only one  port that is connected to the core switch?

Re: Configuring WCCP for Transparent proxy

Hi Nelson ,

WCCP is to be configure on the port in the core switch.

U can refer to

1) https://community.mcafee.com/message/195534  , for WCCP at MWG

2) https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB63018 , for a sample cisco configuration.(PS: This is a bit old , use the cisco part only)
