Comunication port between Web Gateway and Web Reporter

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am configuring Web Gateway with Web Reporter to collect log files but there aren't communication.

I set in Web Reporter:

Collect logs files from: McAfee Web Gateway

Log Format: McAfee Web Gatway - Autodiscover

Device Adrress: 172.x.x.x

UI Port: 9999

Logon Name: admin

Password: the password

Without SSL connection.

The test always fails.... what is the correct port?

Thanks,

Jose.

I could not get mine to send them every hour.  For some reason it just does not work.  You have to do it by file size and Auto Rotation.

For instance, everytime the file size hits 5MB, it auto rotates and then sends it to the Web Reporter.  Works good for me.

Hello,

are we talking about MWG6 or 7?

For 6 you will configure the HTTP GUI port, which usually is 9999 on appliances or 9090 on software installations.

For 7 you will not be able to pull the data from Web Gateway, you will have to configure "incoming Log files" and configiure MWG to push the Log files to WR.

Best,

Andre

Hello,

In MWG7 you will have to push. Web Reporter cannot pick up the Log files from MWG7 GUI yet.

I know that several customers would like to see this again, but unfortunately I am not aware of any concrete plans to build that feature into the product again (which does not necessarily mean that there are no plans).

Product Management may have some more insight into this topic.

Best,

Andre

Hello,

Auto Pushing every X hours should work as well but please note that only rotated log files are pushed. If there was no rotation between 2 hours, no log files will be pushed.

Best,

Andre

Yes, you have to adjust the size of the file to meet your environment.  Ours sends about every 2 hours which is fine for us right now.
