Comunication between Web Gateway and Web Reporter

Hi,

I am configuring Web Gateway 7.1.6 with Web Reporter 5.2 to collect log files.

I set in Web Reporter:

Log Source.JPGIn panel Administration -> Setup -> Log Sources -> Accept incoming log files

Log Format: McAfee Web Gatway - Autodiscover

Logon Name: admin (what login? - > to open webreporter or new for communication with wgw?)

Password: password

2) Then configured Web gateway:

wgw_LogFileManager.JPGSetting in panel Configuration -> Log File Manager:

enabled Auto Pushing, in destination path typed   http://ReportServerAddress:9111/logloader/ ,

Username and Password as in Log Sources.

What do I need after that?

WebReporter didn't collect any log files.

Please, explain me step by step how it works.

Thanks,

Erick.

P.S. sorry my English )

Re: Comunication between Web Gateway and Web Reporter

You are sending all log files to Web Reporter. This will not work.

You must only send the access.log to Web Reporter.

Turn off the pushing for all logs, and turn it on in the Access log only:

I send my log files to a FTP server first for storage, you may send your to the URL you have shown.

Where did you get all those custom log files?  Ok, perhaps not where but how and can you share?

Thanks, for Your answer!

I turned on Access log. But webgateway didn't push to any ftp or url or path.

Do I need to create new rule for that, or wgw must auto send to a path?

What does the log source job status look like?

Re: Comunication between Web Gateway and Web Reporter

The configuration you have should have still pushed access logs to Web Reporter, but your Web Gateway configuration says push after log rotation.  So you would need to check the rotation configuration since logs only get pushed when they are rotated.

But what Eric said is right. Your screenshot of the MWG is showing the global option for all log files. Web Reporter is only used for the access logs and will show failed jobs for all other logs.

The other configuration options would remain the same, but in the location Eric has showed.

Re: Comunication between Web Gateway and Web Reporter

The default administrator login has several default reports that you can use as examples.

A report is essentially a container which holds queries and filters.

The queries can pull from two different data sets, summary (default) and detailed.  I don't recommend using detailed data if you can get the same information from summary data. Detailed data is about 8x larger and will typically be slower than summary based reports.

When you create a query, the first thing to do is choose which data set (summary, detailed), and add columns to the right side of the dialog.

The layout tab is where you set the number of results for the query, and if the type should be a table or graph

The column properties tab is where you should set a sort order for the results, and can modify labels

Filters come in different types and do exactly what their name suggests, filter the results.

That's the basics. If you have trouble making a specific report, then let us know.
