Please share with me your expirience will Vulnerability Manager 7.0 with ePO installed on the same server work correctly?
environment include 150 managed PCs with other mcafee managed products
From the McAfee Engineer words
" This is not recommended scenario.
Vulnerability scanner has two components – Manager and scanner. The manager uses a SQL database as a ePO server and both systems has web based management console – could be a problem with IIS and ports.
Secondly, McAfee recommends hardening on the Vulnerability manager, so there could be a problem with an ePO sever. And when Vulnerability scanner runs a scan, the system can be high utilize.
There are more other reasons, why this is this not recommended.
But if you have virtual server, you can run ePO server in virtual environment. Vulnerability Manager can run in virtual environment as well, but we recommend a physical server."
I have only done this on a test box and it did seem to work correctly.
The major issue appears to be the order you install the products, both products try to use the same ports for console and communication access.
I installed foundstone first, then when installing ePO changed the console and agent Comms ports to non-clashing addresses.
This does work, though the server does end up painfully slow,
