RMM3 DoS condition after full scan (non-intrusive checks only)?

Jump to solution

Hi All,

On a current project we have found that some iLO firmware on HP servers is susceptible to a DoS condition after a scan by MVM (non-intrusive only).  It is a known issue, and firmware updates are available.  After this had come to light, I remembered that I needed to reset one of my appliances RMM3 and didnt know why at the time.  Given the fact that one of the RMM3 is unresponsive again over HTTPS (will respond to ping) after a recent scan (McAfee template - full scan, all non-intrusive checks) I suspect that we may have a similar condition here.  Has anybody else seen this (or has anybody got an appliance they can run a quick test on 🙂 )?

cheers,

Darren

I think it's an Intel KB article:

Intel have the following article logged:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-031771.htm

Recommendation:

1. Please update to the latest firmware:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20558&lang=eng&OSVersion=OS%20Indepen...

Other customers confirmed updating to the latest firmware solved it.

Hi,

If anybody else has seen this issue, just a quick update - I currently have SR3-1936246631 open for this.  I have no access to the appliances at present due to scheduled data centre works, however, so movement on this will not be until early next week.  Does anybody else out there use and scan the RMM3 NIC in their environment?

cheers,

Hello,

We have seen exactly the same behavior on our HP ILO's.

What was the problem / solution?

Cheers,

Robert

Hi,

Similar issue experience with HP iLOs and there is actually a knowledgebase article somewhere (although I do not have it saved).  A firmware update on the HP iLOs fixed the issue.
