MVM - Active Directory - Asset Owner

Jump to solution

Hi everyone,

perhaps someone has a hint for me. I just instaled a MVM appliance. All endnodes are active directory domain members. For every server in active directory in the "managed by" option a user is added.

Today i want to configure the following:

The "managed by" user account from active directory should be added to the asset own at MVM assets.

Is this possible in any way?

Best,

Thorsten

Hi Troja,

Ah, well your best option is to open a Product Enhancement Request.  You can enter them here:

From McAfee.com: https://secure.nai.com/apps/downloads/products/product.asp and selecting McAfee Vulnerability Manager (Foundstone) will take them to the new form.

Or: https://community.mcafee.com/groups/mvm-news click on the Submit Feature Request button

Or directly at: https://mcafee.acceptondemand.com/index.jsp?path=/login-external.jsp

Hi Thorsten,

As long as you have users defined in MVM this should be easy - assuming there is some good identifying criteria to narrow down your Assets.

I suggest you check out:

Manage > Assets > Search > Advanced Search

** enter in whatever criteria will get you a list for the specific *user* **

Once the search is done, and the list is displayed... there is an option toward the top that says "with all search results"

Click that, and select Owner >> from here you can assign an owner to that list of assets.

I hope that helps!

Hi cgrim,

this is not what i want. 🙂

I´m looking for a solution to manage the asset owners in MVM. If there is a system in active directory where "Managed by" is defined this information should be added automatically to the asset in mvm. The goal should be managing the real asset owners in the microsoft active directory and syncing this with MVM.

Best,

Thorsten
