Re: Failed to import data from MVM server, Error: Data truncation

Hi Maximo,

I checked the above referenced Service Request, and it seems to be regarding NSM, and not the MVM Import Task?

Regardless, the Orion Log is the best place to check for errors.

First you need to turn on Orion Debug:

1) Adjust the debug log level for Orion.log:
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location (default path specified):

...\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\Conf\Orion (Windows 2003)
...\Program Files(x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\Conf\Orion (Windows 2008)
Right-click LOG-CONFIG.XML and select Edit to open the file in Notepad.
Scroll down to the bottom of the file and locate the following section:

         <priority value ="warn" />
         <appender-ref ref="ROLLING" />
         <appender-ref ref="STDOUT"/>
Change <priority value ="warn" /> to <priority value ="debug" />
Restart the TomCat Service for the change to take effect
2) Re-Run the Import Task and the Orion Log is here:

...\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\Logs\ (Windows 2003)
...\Program Files(x86)\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\Server\Logs (Windows 2008)

I hope that helps!

Re: Failed to import data from MVM server, Error: Data truncation

had the same error that came spontaneously into existence on the 5th of December - suddenly the data import task all failed with that data truncation message.

Opened a case and here is the solution, that worked for me:

- In ePO, go to Menue->Configuration->Registered Servers

- Select your MVM server and select action->edit

- Check if anything is entered in the "Asset Filter" area

[In my case, there was the top folder of the MVM assets entered; I do not know, if it had always been there or not]

- Take a note of those settings (for roll-back) and clear everything there.

- Save and start again a MVM-import-task.

- See if it works.

As I said, it worked for me. Unfortunately, I have no idea, if something had been entered there before the problem occurred.

Good luck,
