Discovery Scans - OS identification and license issues.

I did a search in the community and the KB's but did not find anything that resolved this. I did open a case, but wanted to post here in case anyone esle experinced this....

Discovery scan issues.

We have two issues with the discovery scans.

1- Out of 11,000 devices found, 2200 did not return the OS identification.

2- When trying to run the discovery scan, I am getting a license violation error.

First issue:

The OS's have been identified using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) by the desktop team,

but Foundstone returned [Unknown] on those same machines.

I had read a KB about selecting the service fingerprinting checkbox for those issues,

but when I select that, the checkbox will uncheck when the scan is saved.

Second issue:

When I try to run the discovery scan, I am getting a license violation error.

If I schedule the scan, it will show pending, but I am not confident now that it will run now that I am getting that error.

This scan has been scheduled to run monthly for more than a year and I have also ran it adhoc without the license issues.

This turned out to me an emerging issue that I've been tracking. The fix is easy but does require help from support. If you are on 7.0.x of the product and are now seeing a License Violation error on the scan status page please open a service request. Though we can fix this issue we don't know the root cause yet and this is still under investigation.

Hello,

I got the License Violation error in a full vulnerability scan - although we have enough licenses.

We are running v 7.0.2.

I just opened SR # 3-1473884991... hope this could help solving the problem definitely...
