nt authority system shutdown

I have searched on several websites to fix this and it is still.

I have downloaded the McAfee Virtual Technician but states if can not find any McAfee products on my system. But as the picture below shows clearly I do and that I am protected.

So why do I have this pesky NT system thing on my computer. In the task manager is shows three files that state they are owned by network service

wmiprvse.exe and two sessions of svchost.exe. When I close one of the svchost process. I get the shutdown screen. I run the shutdown -a cmd but it appears to put me into a modified safe mode feature.

Re: nt authority system shutdown

Hi ,

Uninstall the existing MVT from control panel;
Restart the computer , and download MVT from http://mvt.mcafee.com and after it completes post me the session id.

And may I know McAfee products were they installed through a disc ?

Thanks,
Dinesh K

Re: nt authority system shutdown

It was purchased as a download. I do not have an actual disk.

Re: nt authority system shutdown

OK so I have uninstalled and re-installed. I get a new tab that opens in Firefox that states:

McAfee Virtual Technician
Session

Your McAfee Virtual Technician
Session ID:                                     22664730

I hit next on the MVT and I get the following:

McAfee Virtual Technician cannot check your computer.

Cannot find McAfee products on your system. Click here for a list of supported products

Session

Session ID will be assigned after scanning.
