What is going on with the VirusScan Updates!?

I have been trying to manually update my DAT files since yesterday and I keep getting a message that my files are up do date. I currently have DAT file 6207 which was updated on 12/24/2010. What is going on with the updates? They haven't been working properly all year. Ever since I became a McAfee customer, my settings have been set at autoupdates. Since May, I rarely get an autoupdate. I have to manually update my files everyday. I have a dial-up connection and I think that has something to do with these issues. I know there have been several complaints about this but nothing has been done. I have McAfee Security version 10.5 which features VirusScan version 14.5. Are there any problems with the VirusScan updates? What is the current DAT file?  Is there a reason why I can't manually update? Thanks in advance.

if you have dial-up I dont think the updates can work as you need to be connected to the internet when the updates are taking place? im not sure though just a though.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. I have been a McAfee customer since 2006 and I didn't have these problems with updates until earlier this year. Something has changed and it is affecting dial-up users. They don't seem to care because I have read other discussion threads about dial-up users having issues with the updates. They haven't fixed it yet. I don't think this will ever be fixed. I am going to have to consider shopping around for new internet security software.

You might wish to contact Technical Support Chat regarding this issue.   Linked under Useful Links above.

What is the current DAT file? Am I up to date?   If I can't get it to manually update by tomorrow afternoon, I am going to purchase another brand of internet security software. Unfortunately, I don't think contacting technical support will do any good because this issue with dial-up users has been going on all year. I don't think technical support will be able to resolve this.

Re: What is going on with the VirusScan Updates!?

The current DAT according to my installation is 6207 and it says it's up to date when I manually search for updates.

There was no DAT update on Christmas Day by the way.
