I tried to scan my backup drive and McAfee states it detected a trojan but could not remove because it was a shared program. It says to grant access to allow the program to remove the trojan, but I can't figure out how to grant access. Any help would be appreciated.
If you think it is a genuine detection and should be quarantined try scanning it in Safe Mode. It's probably saying that because some backup program is connected with it or a program or application is using it for its temporary file location.
Boot to Safe Mode by tapping F8 repeatedly while booting up. Locate the drive or file in question in Windows Explorer, right-click and select Scan.
All you'll see is activity in the taskbar icon.
