Please help, I can't update my Dat/Engine

I've searched the forum but can't find a solution. Is there a way to manually update Virus Scan's Engine?

For months now, I have had an error message in my Security Center saying "Your computer is at risk", then a big red X next to "updates:available". Even though I have it set to auto update, "download and install", It is unable to update. My Virus Scan 15 Engine will not update when I run the virtual technician. The results are

"Engine not Up-to-date

Expected : 5500

Existing: 5400"

Even though It says it is updating the Engine, it doesn't.

In the Program Files (Windows XP) under C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScan\, I see both folders "...\DAT\7510" then "...\Engine\5400.1158". Each is dated 7/26'2014

I just clicked update and it is now all green and says "Your computer is secure (no action is required)". But the Engine folder is still "...\Engine\5400.1158". I'm sure it will soon say "your computer is at risk".

I have tried reinstalling the McAfee Internet Security program, but all that updated was the out of date DAT file.

I hope since this seems to be a common issue someone can help me.

Try running the Virtual Technicvian to see if it finds and fixes anything:

If that doesn't help uninstall all McAfee products via Control Panel > Add or Remove

Run the MCPR cleanup tool and reboot.

Go to ONLINE account and reinstall.
