PUP detections show an appended file of same file type

This is a cut from a PUPS alert that I get pretty often, where a particular file will have an appended file of the same file type yet it's not a real file. This happens with Office documents as well, though mostly from Publisher and PowerPoint. I have no idea why the appendage is there, and there does not appear t be anything embedded in the files. Anyone have ideas about this?

The appendage is hard to see so I inserted a space and BOLDFACED the font for clarity.

Thank you!

I think you're in the wrong product forum.  This is for the Host Intrusion Prevention product.  I'm not sure what product you're referencing here.

Kary;

PUP = Potentially Unwanted Program. You're right, those are picked up by the virus scan. I moved the disscusion.
