The reasons for this can vary widely from machine to machine and depend on what else is running at the time plus how much the system has in resources such as RAM plus whether or not the system has an infection or not.
Without more details one can only guess at reasons. Like the original poster didn't post anything other than vague details about the system and nothing else, you haven't given any details at all. Rival software can also cause problems such as this.

Well the stats for your machine are good. The only possible red flag I see is that you get your software for free through a 3rd party. Often upgrades to the software get held up indefinitely by those 3rd parties, but of course I have no idea if that's contributing to this.
Run Stinger and Malwarebytes Free from the last link in my signature below and if they don't help, or come up clean, contact Technical Support as I suggested. They are best because they can troubleshoot things directly.
You have to watch those toolbars as they often download with other software unless you keep a close eye on things. OK, good luck ;-)
