This is still a Known issue, and is from my knowledge being addressed. I am running 13.6.1492/17.6.555 and when doing a full scan, it may hesitate for several minutes or more then complete. Does your scan eventually complete?
To answer your question, it is recommended to run the FAQ as suggested, until the issue is completely resolved. Again, I have no problems with it. Also we Mods have mentioned the fact of the "Rootkit Wording" instead of "Scanning for Rootkits" which it should state.

My scan completed but I don't know if it would have done so on its own or not. It took quite a while to go from 99 percent to complete.
I only perform a total scan once a week.
I'll try now and see what happens.
I might add, when going to the (Downloaded File) in Internet Explorer 11 .I have no issue in running as a Administrator.
