LiveSafe full scan ... hung at 99 percent.

Jump to solution

The subject says it all.   This is a new Dell computer (Windows 8.1) and LiveSafe hung at 99 percent.

As an afterthought I ran chkdsk and there were no issues there.

Suggestions?  Thanks, Dave Horne

You may try the following workaround:VirusScan stops scanning at 98% or 99% complete

I haven't yet done a second full scan, it's late here and I'm gong to bed but I do have a suggestion.

I jumped through your hoops and when I went to right click on the downloaded file (in Firefox), the option to run as Administrator was not there.  I had to drag that file to the desktop in order to do that.  You might want to pass that on in your set of instructions.

Thanks, I'll report back with a follow up.  DH

I recommend repeating the same procedure with your wife,s machine also.

Just thought I would add that.....

I thought I would bring to your attention of the Superb (Free) Tools available as well here:

Should you ever want to keep Onboard/Available a on Demand Scanner, Malwarebytes (Free) is an excellent program. It is a compliment to your McAfee Anti-Virus and fully Compatible. To keep it (Free) DO NOT accept any Free  Trial Offers/or activate the Pro Version during the entire Download process.

Periodically, I highly recommend running the McAfee Getsusp Tool as well. Just remember to add your Email Address under "Preferences" before scanning. This Tool is Highly efficient in Detecting any Unknown/Suspicious Programs that may be running on your Machine.

Should there be any found, they are automatically sent to McAfee Labs GTI Base, and  are analyzed.

HI, I have a follow up question.  The solution that was provided, is that a one off solution?  In other words, do I have to jump through those hoops every time I do a full scan?

Or is that solution a permanent one?

I ask because I did a full scan yesterday and McAfee hung at 99 percent.  I had forgotten about this thread, did a Google search and found it back.  I jumped through the hoops to get it resolved.

So, is this solution a one off ... or a permanent solution?
