I'd like to have the option to chose between Quarantine the file or Ignore the alert. Is it possible to configure McAfee to give me these options and stopping McAfee from quarantining/deleting the file automatically?
I'm afraid it could happen with some important system file someday so I'd like to have the chance to decide.
RE: How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware
this issue must be taken care in a day ..... if you still see this please post back with the DAT number on the affected computer and an id from submission to www.webimmune.net
RE: How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware
I uninstalled Picasa so I´m not able to submit the file 😞 but I already sent the file to McAfee from the Quarantine zone. This is the information I got from AVERT Labs:
AVERT Labs - Beaverton Current Scan Engine Version:5300.2777 Current DAT Version:5576.0000 Thank you for your submission.
Analysis ID: 5242360
File Name Findings Detection Type Extra --------------------|------------------------------|----------------------------|------------|----- uninstall.exe |current detection |generic.dx |Trojan |no
current detection [uninstall.exe]
The file received is infected and can be detected and removed with our current DAT files and engine. It is recommended that you update your DAT and engine files and scan your computer again.
Hope that helps and that false positive is fixed soon.
RE: How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware
I was reffering to the analysis ID
the DAT number seen on your post is 5576 and 5577 is already out you are likely to have that now or within a few hours.. so please re-install picasa and verify if possible happy
