I've recently installed McAfee Internet Security to replace a previous competing product, and so far like it with one exception.
I have one set of folders/subfolders where I regularly run software I've written myself to clear-down, create and analyse thousands of text files. Having on-access scanning on means that jobs which took two mnutes before now take over an hour.
The only things that ever go into these directories are .csv files I've created myself and the output in terms of text files, so can I turn off on-access scanning for this folder structure? If I can't, it looks like I've made a mistake investing in Internet Security and will have to go back to the other product.
The real-time scanner doesn't have that facility, yet. It used to years ago but now only exceptions can be made for somethiing that has been identified as a PUP (Possibly Unwanted Program). We believe they are planning on reintroducing real-time file exceptions soon as we briefly saw it in our beta testing Group but it was withdrawn for further adjustments.
