I'm about ready to give up!!
Older computer, Running XP with service pack 3...
current McAfee Security Center:
Firefox 33.0.2 (main browser)
IE 8 (default settings)
I have about 9 months left on my license, but I'm about ready to cancel!!
I have uninstalled 3 times using add/remove and MCPR...have also run Mcpreinstall, with no issues..scanned with malwarebytes..no issues...Scanned with getsusp. 3 suspicious files...2 of which I recognized...the 3rd I researched and seemed ok...
I have installed 3 times...and everything installed perfectly except the anti virus/anti spyware...therefore, I can't scan anything...this all started after an update on either 10/30 or 10/31...can't remember which...
Another oddity is that when I run Virtual Technician, it states that no product was found...What????!!!

A full McAfee scan found nothing...yay...
I'll re-install AdwCleaner (I had uninstalled it,thinking it was interfering with the McAfee install..) RE: MS updates...XP is no longer being updated by MS,so it will be interesting to see if I run into issues again...If McAfee update is somehow contingent to MS updates, then there could be a problem...
I always keep flash up to date...and McAfee is set to auto update...

If Malwarebytes is the Pro version try disabling active protection and exit the programme, and if you had another antivirus installed make sure it was completely removed and whatever removal tool they have used as well.
If you have Spybot installed turn of Teatime or active protection.
What other security software do you have installed?

When u uninstalled housecall did you use its Removal tool or just wimdows add/remove way? You then need to unimstall mcafee properly and retry its install.

There is NO uninstall with Housecall...does not even show up in windows add/remove...had to do it all manually...even searching for left over files in various locations..Hopefully I got them all, but who knows...Again..uninstalled McAfee completely, following all instructions...Installed new software...same problem...anti virus/anti spyware will NOT install...
I'm probably gonna have to uninstall completely and install another free virus software until I have more time to chat with Tech support....I'm not a tech expert, but neither am I a tech dummy...It makes no sense to me why its this complicated when all was working fine until a downloaded update was installed...and then bam...Thank goodness the firewall is still on..I'm just having to do a lot of malwarebytes scanning to make sure I haven't picked up anything...so frustrating!!!
OH...and just an aside...Housecall has been sitting on my computer for over 2 years and has never interfered with McAfee.
