Hi: Repeated BSODs on a Windows 2008 R2 box: 0x000000FC "ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY".

Crash dump points to mfehidk.sys "(mfehidk+0x6C825)". I have the dump copied and available for analysis if necessary.

VSE v8.8.0

mcshield.dll v15.1.0.543

mfehidk.sys v15.4.0.651

Pointers / next steps?

VSE 8.8 P4 + HIP 8.0 P6 is not a good combination.

You should update either (or both) to a current patch level. There are stability risks we learned of from the field with P6 code.

FYI, almost all crash dumps with our products installed will point to mfehidk.sys

- because the debugger has logic that looks for the first non-Microsoft driver it can blame, and

- because mfehidk is our pivotal driver receiving I/O from the filter manager; it martials events off to our other drivers as needed, thus it's almost always present when a failure occurs.
