>>>How to protect user to remove VSE

Jump to solution

Hi All !

In my VSE lab test, I can protect user to terminate the VSE processes and setting in VSE.

Now I want to protect user to remove VSE by using Add/Remove program in Control Panel.

I know that if user remove VSE, McAfee Agent will get policy to install it again. (loop uninstall-install)

I'm not sure about McAfee that has function same the TrendMicro or not to disable/remove program just have admin password.

Thank you.

PS. my environment test : ePO 5.1 + VSE 8.8 + a Win7 client

With the installation designer you can create a custom VSE package. There are a few options available from: Allow user to uninstall, Allow user to modify features and Show in control panel.

I don't know if this is possible with command line options during the installation.

Modify the registry to prevent VSE being removed:
1. Click Start, Run, type regedit, and press ENTER.
2. Navigate to and select the appropriate registry key below:
For 32-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{CE15D1B6-19B6-4D4D-8F43-CF5D2C3356FF}
For 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{CE15D1B6-19B6-4D4D-8F43-CF5D2C3356FF}

3. Right-click in the right-pane and select New, DWORD value.
4. Name the new value NoRemove and press ENTER.
