Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

I looked yesterday and still didn't see it.  Maybe one of the McAfee guys can chime in and let us know.

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

William Warren recently said on these forums that the

"Current date for RTS is July 20. We previously were targeting end of  June, but had to address some urgent issues that needed to be included  in Patch 4 and thus had to reset the schedule."

RTS is "release to support".  General release should be 4 weeks (or so) after that.

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

Still waiting for VSE 8.7 patch4.

The engineserver.exe is using more than 900 MB memory on a server. If restart the service, it will use 440K. But in several days, it will use hundreds MB again.

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

So sad that the issue still exists after applied p4 for 8.7i.

On my pc, engineserver.exe uses 120M memory and 120M virtual memory. On a domino server, it uses 1M memory and 120M virtual memory. On other pcs and servers, it uses about 400k memory and 500k virtual memory.

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

Until now I found no news.

With Virus Scan Enterprise 8.7.1 (Scanmodule: 5400.1158) my computer is blocked for more than 10 minutes every-time/-day doing an update.

The computers freezes, because CPU runs on 100% (engineserver.exe). This engineserver.exe needs more than 280MB on my PC.

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

This issue is caused by a DAT update. If you reboot your computer, memory for EngineServer.exe will be very low again.

It was supposedly fixed in Patch 4. But the problem is still in Patch 4.

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB59962

You can easily simulate the problem by simply running a DAT update on your PC.

McAfee support acts like this is rocket science. Never heard of it... strange... weird... curious.. hmmm... I must be first one... blah blah

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

A fix is in the pipline for VSE 8.7 P4.

I expect it will be available mid/late April.

It's usually reported to occur on terminal servers, and is tied to having the Email Scan feature installed (it doesn't have to be enabled).

Re: engineserver.exe memory leaks?

Any news about the hotfix a more specific date?

I have this issue only on Windows xp machines, Windows 7 machines are running fine.

Mcafee 8.7 patch 4, agent 4.5 patch 2
