ePO 4.6: Clients don't show Virus alert message box

Hi all,

My Steup:

Server:     ePO 4.6.0      Windows 2003 Server 32Bit.

Cilents:  VirusScanEnterprise 8.8.0.975.Wrk      Win7 64Bit

If the Scanner detects a Virus a Report is generated on the ePO, thats fine.

But I also want a Alert Window pop up on the Clinet that informs the user as well.

I have a Policy Like this

VirusScan Enterprise 8.8.0 > On-Access General Policies > My Default

Workstation -> Messages

And checked:

But no Popups show up on the Client when a Virus is detected.

I owe a beer to anyone who can help me with this.

Thanks

Moving to VSE group, as it's a product configuration question

Re: ePO 4.6: Clients don't show Virus alert message box

Hi there,

Can you please check if the following value is set as 1?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\McAfee\SystemCore\VSCore\On Access Scanner\BehaviourBlocking\BOPShowMessages

If so, are you using an Eicar test for your test? If so, please check with different eicar files as some of them are not showing pop up. I would sugest to check with .zip, txt.....

If you have the issue in a single machine, try to do a repair as I have seen some corrupted installations that has been fixed only with the repair option under

VSE console - Help - Repair instalation and then ticking both of the boxes.

Please, let us know the result and If I will get that beer

Cheers,

Thank you llamamecomoquieras

Your mentioned Registry Key is set correctly on the Clients.

I now somehow have problems to reproduce the error.

What happend is this, an obvious E-Mail Virus (VoiceMail.scr) was copied to the Desktop for further Inspection. But No Virus Scanner spotted the Virus by this time. After a while New Virus Definitions arrived, and after a while The On Access Scanner spotted the file without Informing the user.

I tried to reporduce this behavior, by copying the File from a Network Drive to the Desktop, and again no Notification.

Then I tried a Client without the EPO Agent installed and a  Popup appeared.

But now on every Client with the EPO Agent if I try to copy the file, I get the Popup Warning.

So I think the Problem is Fixed.

llamamecomoquieras I owe you one .. Cheers !
