Windows Update Freezing Mcafee on Dx5150 on (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+)

We have several hundred devices there were freezing up without the microsoft reccomended AV exclusions for windows update.  The strange thing is they would hard lock and you couldn't do anything.  When we put the exclusions in the problem seemed to go away.  Why did we not see this issue until now, also why only the one hardware model.  We are currently working on root cause to identify why this issue is actually happening now,  as we released several large updates last week monday, and it's strange we are just seening this issue now.

We are running MA 4.5/40 & vse8.5/87 and the problem is apparent on any workstation without the exclusions below.

Has anyone else seen this issue?  I've added the following exclusions to our list.
