Windows 10 v.1903 update problem.

Jump to solution

I am trying to update my Dell laptop to version 1903 of Windows 10.  Each time I try it fails with a message that I must uninstall McAfee (VirusScan Enterprise).  Is there a solution to this please that does not involve taking McAfee off?

I already have VirusScan v8.8.0.1906 on my PC.

My machine was a windows 7 machine running VirusScan v8.8.0.1906 on it.  It was updated to Windows 10, and then the windows 10 v1903, v1809 x64 2019-03B, and v1803 keep failing with either error 0x080240fff or 0xc1900131.

Do I have to uninstall VirusScan, finish the windows update, and reinstall Virusscan?

Hi @MichaelMahan

Thank you for your post. VSE 8.8.0.1906 should refer to Patch 10 in use. This version only adds support for Windows 10 1709 (Fall Creators update) - please refer this Product document.

I would recommend one of these 2 steps:

1) Upgrade VSE 8.8 Patch 10 to Patch 13 and then upgrade to Windows 10.

2) As you mentioned, removal of VSE for windows upgrade and then deploying Patch 13 on the machine.

Each product Patch's release notes should be available here for your kind reference.

I sincerely hope this helps!
