Short information, this problem, if it is related to the syscore components, should be fixed in the new ePO agent 5.0.5. The RTW version release can be mid or end of march!
This is there official response. Fingers crossed that Patch 9 does in fact fix the problem.
"A long Syscore install time is a known issue with the version provided by VirusScan Patch 8 and a few other products. I have included a link below to our KB article highlighting this issue. We expect this to be resolved in patch 9 of VSE, which is expected in the next month or two. "
Slow but successful installation of Data Loss Prevention Endpoint, Endpoint Security, Host Intrusion Prevention, McAfee Agent, or VirusScan Enterprise
We have the same problem here too for some months already. Installation of VSE 8.8 via EPO takes 20 - 30 minutes, while the whole PC is reacting slowly, like mouse stuttering and applications stuttering too. After Installation, PC is working normal again. We have seen this on Windows 7 and Windows 10. It seems that newer PCs (with e.g. Intel Core i5) experience this problem, while older PCs (with Intel Core 2 Duo) don't do so often.
We have EPO 5.3.1, McAfee Agent 126.96.36.1993, VSE 188.8.131.529.
We are experiencing the same thing. We use to install McAfee and the agent in the image and then sysprep it. We did this on patch 6 and agent 5.0.2. No issues. Now with patch 8 and agent 5.0.4 we can't do this. For some reason sysprep doesn't like the registry keys as it complains about them.
Failed to process reg key or one of its descendants: [\REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\McAfee]
So I opened up a ticket and found out it is not supported to install McAfee before sysprep.
Now that we can't do it that way anymore, we tried to install mcafee when the user first logs in and it take 1-15 minutes to install.
Hopefully the new agent and/or patch 9 will fix the issue
