VirusScan On-Access Exclusion with Question Mark

Jump to solution

Based on the KB article KB50998, it says "The question mark (?) is used for single character replacement within file names and folders." Can I use question mark for replacing the system drive?

For example, I have the same directory in C and F drive. Can I use ?:\program files\folder1\folder2\folder3.

Will this actually exclude the same directory both on C and F drive?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @arnieos

Yes question mark (?) can be used to replace the system drive.

In your example, it will match both C and F drive, and exclude them.

Hi @mmuthuga,

Thanks for your response. Will this also work in ENS?

Maybe it is a good idea to update the KB and other KBs explaining the use of question mark for scan exclusion and include the system drive. Currently, it only states "within file names and folders."

Thanks again.

Hi @arnieos

It is applicable for ENS too.

I understand that you are referring to KB54812. Thanks for notifying us.

You can refer wildcards usage in exclusions from ENS product guide. Please access these from following links.
