VirusScan Enterprise v. 8.5.0i does not update

Greetings,

I recently acquired VirusScan Enterprise from my college bookstore (the school provides this as the official antivirus support for poor students like me) and installed it on my Dell Inspiron 2200 with XP SP3. When Windows alerted me through Windows Security Alerts that the antivirus software was out of date, I looked more closely at the update logs for McAfee. Turns out, every time I run the update tool, it fails. I am currently using Engine Version 5200.2160 and DAT Version 5309.0000, dated June 3, 2008.

Here is the update log:

try running the superdat to update your engine/dat to the latest version. often times i use this when av files have become corrupted on the machine.

(Silly I know but...) also make sure you've got at least 250mb of C: drive disk space available.

RE: VirusScan Enterprise v. 8.5.0i does not update

You probably have an old updater agent. 8.5 came with an older 3.5 or 3.6 updater and it is no longer supported. go find frameworkservice.exe or updateui.exe and right click, properties and see what version you have. update to the newest one. I think a newer one would be in the patches section of the downloads page on mcafee.

better yet, go back to your college support team and ask them to update it for you, they should have the necessary files available and can fit them to a USB stick to quickly sort it out.

Re: VirusScan Enterprise v. 8.5.0i does not update

Dear Redmage,

Better you can download the SDAT( Latest McAfee update) from McAfee site and try to update the product manually and wait for next days update and check weather the VSE is able to download the update automatically.

Kindly follow the link for the latest update.

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx?region=us

Also VSE 8.5 got EOS why can you requset your college support team to upgrade the product to the latest version of VSE.

Note : Pls run the auto update task and check weather the product throws any error msg after manual update .
